CITY TOUR LA PAZ

La ciudad de La Paz es una de las más importantes de Bolivia y es, también, sede del Gobierno. Entre sus mayores atractivos está la visita al casco viejo de la ciudad, los miradores, la vista a los templos religiosos como la hermosa Catedral de San Francisco y el paseo por los mercados artesanales de la ciudad.

TIWANAKU VISITS

Tiwanaku was the oldest civilization of America, with 27 centuries of duration from 1580 BC to 1172 AC. The capital city was located in La Paz, near Lake Titikaka. It was the center of a great empire that reached the northeast of Argentina and North of Chile as well as the entire Bolivian territory. This ancient culture is considered one of the most important in the continent because it accomplished numerous achievements in the fields of science, astrology, arts and construction. They were also known for their advanced agriculture techniques. It is located at 3 hours from La Paz city by bus, near Lake Titikaka.

SUN AND MOON ISLANDS

These two islands, located in Lake Titikaka, have remains of buildings made by the Incas. Most of the tours go by boat from the touristic town of Copacabana. The islands have many paths for hikes and views of the lake and the Royal Mountain Range are a gift for your eyes.

ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES IN "COPACABANA"

The town of Copacabana is located nearby Lake Titikaka, very close to the Peruvian border. There are many sites with constructions made by the Inca Empire. The most important are the "Orca del Inca" which was an Astronomical observatory, the "Sun Stone", "Orko Jawira" and the Pre Hispanic cemetery of Copacabana.

The museum features works of famous national and international artists.

MUSEO ETNOGRAFIA Y FOLKLORE

Located in Ingavi street, on the corner with Jenaro Sanjinéz street – LA PAZ
The museum features crafts, typical costumes and musical instruments of Bolivia.

CASA MURILLO

Located in Sucre street, on the corner with Jaén street – LA PAZ
This museum was once the house of the revolutionary hero Don Pedro Domingo Murillo, martyr of the 16th of July revolution that started the independency in La Paz.

MUSEO COSTUMBRISTA

Located in Jaén street, number 79 – LA PAZ.
The museum features many cultural expressions and traditions of Bolivia.

MUSEO DEL LITORAL

Located in Sucre street, number 77889, on the corner with Jaén street – LA PAZ
The museum is dedicated to the Pacific War that Bolivia had with Chile.

MUSEO HISTORIA NATURAL

Located in 26 Cota Cota street – LA PAZ
Features many animal fossils, some dinosaurs and a nature inventory of Bolivia.

MUSEO ARQUEOLOGICO TIWANAKU

Located in Tiwanaku street, number 93, on the corner with Federico Suazo street – LA PAZ
The museum features archeological pieces found in the ruins of Tiwanaku in La Paz.

MUSEO DE METALES PRECIOSOS

Located in Jaén street, number 79 – LA PAZ
The museum has a collection of gold and silver ornaments made by the ancient cultures that lived in the region. Most of them are from the Incas.

TRAIN CEMETERY

The final resting place for the first trains to arrive in South America, around 1900. These trains were primarily used to transport minerals from the nearby mines.

COLCHANI

Colchani is considered one of the most important towns, because of its role as a center of extraction and processing of salt. Colchani produces 20,000 tons of salt per year, of which 90% is destined for human consumpt0ion.

MIRADOR CHIJINI

Rock outcropping 40 meters above the Salar, with the ruins of an ancient citadel. This archeological site is presumed to have been constructed as a fort by an ancient civilization that followed the Tiwanaku civilization.

SAN JUAN DE ROSARIO

The residents of this town cultivate quinoa for a living. The town is made up of houses, with various tourist hostels. The town features the Kusai Wasi Museum, which is administered by the community members and features 228 archeological pieces from the Lípez culture.

NECROPOLIS

This refers to a group of pre-Incaic tombs in the form of beehives. They make up part of the largest concentration of tombs in the region (1250 to 1532 AD).

TOMAS LAQA

A series of rock paintings and petroglyphs with anthropomorphic and zoomorphic characteristics of the Lípez culture.

MALLKU VILLA MAR

This is an enchanting town, also known simply as Villa Mar, where one can see the local lifestyle from nearby. There is a cave close to the town, where “Mallkus” (local authorities in the region) have gathered for generations.

VILLA ALOTA

Along with Culpina K and Vila Vila, Villa Alota is part of a group of “Pueblos Autenticos” or “authentic towns,” which were updated and redesigned by Bolivian artist NAME . These towns feature sculptures, redesigned streetscapes and refaced buildings that reflect the local customs and traditions of the region as well as provide services for tourists.

CULPINA K

Along with Vila Vila and Villa Alota, Culpina K is part of a group of “Pueblos Autenticos” or “authentic towns,” which were updated and redesigned by Bolivian artist NAME . SAN CRISTOBAL

Tourist service center. The church in San Cristóbal is one of the oldest in the Altiplano and is considered part of the cultural patrimony of Bolivia. It was moved intact, along with the entire town of San Cristóbal, which was located on top of one of the world’s largest silver deposits.
